Detailed Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro Review
Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro debuted in July in Black colorways. Curry 4 Flotro is out to pay tribute to Stephen Curry’s phenomenal performance in 2017 when he helped his team to secure the Championship title. He was wearing Curry 4 in many games.
Curry wore Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro in game 3 of the NBA finals 2022. It’s been in high demand since his outstanding performance in games 3 and 4.
Curry 4 Flotro is the performance upgrade of the original Curry 4. It features Under Armour Curry Flow foam technology for comfort and responsiveness.
Flow foam was originally used in Runner shoes. That is now incorporated in retro curry 4 hoop shoes. It eliminates the rubber insole. Here’s the complete break down on the performance of Curry 4 Flotro.

1-Traction:
Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro has a unique traction pattern. Which is very different from the herringbone patterns. But it works like a MAGIC.
It has an amazing grip on the floor. It literally sticks to the floor and stops you at a moment’s notice. UA Curry 9 had exactly the same traction pattern.
Traction is very consistent on the clean court and dirty outdoor and indoor courts. It’s very reliable for pivoting and shifty footwork.
It picks up little dust on very dirty courts. But it’s easy to wipe the outsole. You don’t really need to wipe it frequently. Overall the radial pattern on the outsole of Curry 4 Flotro gives really great traction
2-Cushion:
Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro incorporates full-length flow foam technology as the cushioning. The cushion is actually the outsole and midsole both.
There are not any rubber compounds that are attached separately to the outer part of the shoe as an outsole. It’s all the flow foam.
The cushion in Curry 4 Flotro is low the ground on the forefoot than on the heel. It is adequately responsive. But it’s not too bouncy to assist you in high jumps. However, it gives you a more rapid and tactile feeling to hoop in its lightweight setup.
Impact protection is not too much. Especially in the toe box, the Flow foam is thin. So it is a bit springy and bouncy great for the players who like more court feel. Overall it’s a well-balanced cushioning.
3-Material:
The Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro’s upper is a Suede material. That looks premium and comfortable. It conforms to the foot shape.
The tongue area has a stretchy textile material that also wraps around the ankle as a sock liner.
It feels softer and cozy.
It does need a little break-in time though. Curry 4 Flotro’s upper is very minimal and flexible to put them on. Over the upper material, quality is certainly improved than its retro version.
4-Support:
Curry 4 Flotro covers pretty much all the aspects in terms of shoe support. That’s why it’s a better performance upgrade of Curry 4.
The Flow foam comes up on the midfoot area and combined with a wide base it gives you nice lateral stability. If you are doing a lot of shifty moves, its material will support you very well.
It has an internal heel counter to support the ankle area. The high-up sock liner keeps your feet on the footbed and prevents heel slippage.
The base has a relatively softer midfoot plate. That is combined with the curved shape of the shoe from the top and bottom.
So you get a lot of forward thrusts while the wider base gives you all the stability that you need. Overall, it’s a very supportive shoe.
5-Fit:
Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro is a very snug-fit shoe. Those who dont mind a very snug fit should buy a true-to-size pair. While wide feet or very wide feet players must buy at least a half size up than their true size.
It gives a good amount of fit and lockdown with the laces passing through the upper material from one side and from eyelets through the other side. So fit and lockdown are very nice in Curry 4 Flotro.
6-Looks / Appearance/ Colorways:
Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro has a very premium upper material. Which looks great in all the colorways. Recently 5 colorways are out and we really loved the aesthetics and looks.
Curry 4 Flotro’s debut release was a black-pink colorway. Other than that it’s available in retro pink-white, white-pink, purple-white, etc.
7-Outdoor/Durability:
Under Armour Curry 4 Flotro has Flow foam midsole and outsole. The outdoor performance of Curry 4 Flotro on indoor as well as outdoor courts So if you want to wear the shoe on the outdoor courts, these will be a great option.
The upper material is pretty much stretchy and durable. The outer traction pattern is a bit soft but it is exactly the same outsole pattern as in Curry 8.
So we consider the shoe a durable model for its similar traction pattern because Curry 8 are very durable shoe.
8-Breathability/Ventilation:
Under Armor Curry 4 Flotro is better than the original Curry 4 in so many ways and better breathability is another improvement.
The upper material is not too thin but it allows a little amount of airflow around your feet. The forefoot area has holes to improve airflow in the shoe. Overall, these are not very breathable shoes.
